C-SECTION AND BIRTHING

Do not hesitate to seek our veterinaries’ advice at any stage of your pet’s pregnancy, labour or after giving birth if you have any concerns about your pet’s well being or her little ones.

You should contact us for advice if any of the following occur:
  • gestation period is longer than normal and there is no onset of labour
  • abnormal discharges before or after birthing
  • your pet or her little ones seem in distress
  • your pet has strong contractions but seems unable to give birth
  • any other signs of complications or distress
Our clinic can assist your pet with the natural birth process and is equipped to assess if a c-section is required and to perform the procedure.

Our veterinaries and nurses are available to provide you with advice and intervene in emergency situations.

Did you know that your pet might require deworming medication in the early stages of her pregnancy to ensure that she does not infect her newborns? We also recommend giving your pet all the necessary vaccines before mating to ensure maximum immunity is passed on to her newborns.
